Recording

Record your screen, a window, or an area.

The recorder pill asks one question: what are we capturing? Pick a screen, a window, or a drawn area, then start.

How to start a recording

1

Choose what to capture

In the recorder pill, click Screen, Window, or Area. You can also add your camera, pick a microphone, and turn on system audio from the same pill.

2

Confirm the capture frame

The frame outlines the capture target and shows its dimensions. Aspect-ratio chips let you snap an area, and Smart Focus arms automatic zooms for the take.

3

Record, pause, stop

Click Record now and a short countdown starts the take. Press Option+2 to pause and resume, and Option+4 to stop and keep the recording.

How do I record on a Mac with more than one display?

Press Control+Option+Space during a session to open the screen switcher. The left and right arrow keys choose a display, the space bar switches to it, and Escape closes the switcher. Control+Option+Right and Control+Option+Left jump straight to the next or previous screen.

What happens after I stop?

The take opens in the Autocuts studio, where automatic zooms, cursor effects, and camera layouts are ready to edit. Nothing uploads; the file is already on your Mac.
